Local History Month

May 7th to 19th  at Derwent Valley BRIDGE Library

and

May 20th at Ayton Village Hall (2pm – 5pm)

Heritage Exhibition 7th– 19thMay in the library then in the Village Hall 2pm – 5pm on Sunday 20th May.  To celebrate Local History Month libraries across North Yorkshire are putting on various events and exhibitions. At DVB we’ll have a small display designed to show people the wealth of information we hold in our small archive in the back room of the library and how people can access it.  We will also take the opportunity to ask if anyone would like to come forward to help update some documents we have with a view to getting funding to have them published so that they can be sold to swell DVB funds.  We’ll also have a small display of memorabilia about our library from 1973 when it was built.  On Saturday 12th May, Reina Beecroft will be in the library for a ‘drop-in’ on tracing your family history from 10-30am to 12-30pm.  We’ll take the display panels to the Village Hall on Sunday 20th May where the Jubilee Committee will be hosting “A Walk Down Memory Lane” where people can relate their memories of Ayton which will preserved by filming them telling their stories. In addition, the North Yorkshire Archive will bring along their ‘pop-up’ archive to show a sample of what they hold.  There may also be slide shows of pictures of old Ayton and, of course, there will be refreshments available.
