Community Library Garden

Derwent Valley Bridge Library is thrilled to have won gold once more at the Muck and Magic Awards for our community garden. The awards are held every year by Scarborough’s Garden Club to recognise the dedication effort and hard work of the green fingered growers in our area. The Rainbows, who have a small flower bed within the library garden, also won a Gold and took an award for the best in category.  They have produced a beautiful Fairy Garden including a house and lawn! Well done to  the  Rainbows. All the volunteer gardeners: Ron Armitage, Suzanne Carr, Morna McLennan, Alan Bedford, John Warburton and  Michael Dorrington spend lots of time mowing, weeding, strimming, planting and watering to keep our library garden looking cared for and a lovely place to be. It is appreciated by people just walking by, so we’ve been told. It has been a task this year keeping the space looking good despite the extremes of weather that have been our summer this year. The joy of gardening! The team have recently embarked on the winter season’s look – pansies, primulas etc. All the bulbs are lurking beneath the soil ready to pop up in the spring.
