Picking your 5 a day. A group of 15 children and their parents and carers had a great morning picking fruit and vegetables in the library garden on Wednesday August 14th. The rain held off just long enough for a big box of beans and courgettes and a punnet of strawberries to be harvested. Many of the children had been involved in sowing the vegetable seeds in the spring and were amazed that so many beans and courgettes had grown from their individual seeds. Everyone enjoyed brownies and muffins made with courgettes and took away a bag of vegetables with several recipes for both sweet and savoury dishes that could be cooked at home. A big thank you to everyone who took part.
